CROCCS brings together leading Croatian institutions across the semiconductor value chain. Established in January 2026 as part of the European Network of Chips Competence Centres. Six consortium partners contribute unique expertise, infrastructure and services to accelerate chip and semiconductor innovation for industry and start-ups in Croatia. CROCCS partners have complementary roles, offering expertise from materials research to chip design, prototyping, testing and system-level integration.

University of Zagreb – Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing
FER is the largest technical faculty in Croatia and a leading educational and research institution in electrical engineering, computing and ICT. Supported by modern educational programmes, advanced laboratory infrastructure and the highest concentration of semiconductor experts, FER serves as Croatia’s central hub for semiconductor research and industry collaboration. FER builds innovation capacity by supporting companies in adopting advanced digital technologies. Strategically positioned in Zagreb, it anchors national capabilities and drives the development of the Croatian semiconductor ecosystem.

Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science and Information Technology Osijek
FERIT offers hands-on engineering education supported by modern laboratory infrastructure and industry-focused research. It is recognised for its expertise in analogue, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design, power electronics, embedded systems, and semiconductor systems testing. Located in eastern Croatia, FERIT enhances the regional innovation ecosystem by providing practical engineering support, advanced testing capabilities and industry-oriented services.

University of Split – Faculty of Science
The PMFST’s unique strength lies in its specialised laboratory infrastructure and interdisciplinary teams, bridging materials science, semiconductor engineering and bio-integrated technologies. Its expertise includes the development and characterisation of neuroelectronic interfaces, microstructuring of solid materials, and advanced measurement and analysis of electrical and thermal properties under extreme conditions, including low and high temperatures and strong magnetic fields.

RBI is the largest public research institute in Croatia, with over 1,000 employees across 11 scientific divisions and several specialised centres. Its facilities for thin film deposition, ion beam implantation, clean room fabrication, and high-precision electrical and optical measurements, RBI bridges fundamental materials science with semiconductor device development. The expertise of RBI scientists and laboratories makes CROCCS a key partner in developing a new generation of semiconductor devices.

Institute of Physics, Zagreb
The IFZ is Croatia’s leading research institution in solid state and surface physics, with a strong record of national and international projects in innovation, technology transfer, and industry collaboration. IFZ is organised around two major research centres, CALT and KaCIF, and hosts the Centre of Excellence for Advanced Materials and Sensing Devices (CEMS), which brings together interdisciplinary expertise in materials synthesis, characterisation and device development. IFZ offers extensive know-how and state-of-the-art facilities for semiconductor material characterisation and device research, all readily available to support CROCCS services.

KEEI has extensive expertise in power electronics, with longstanding experience in developing and producing power converters for railways, power generation and distribution, and e-mobility. The institute operates advanced laboratories for testing semiconductor components and systems, including high power, noise and vibration, EMC, and environmental testing. These capabilities enable KEEI to support CROCCS with high-level testing, validation and development of next-generation semiconductor technologies in power electronics.
