New Clean Room Facility Strengthens Croatia’s Chips Ecosystem
The Ruđer Bošković Institute, one of the partner institutions of CROCCS – the Croatian Competence Centre for Semiconductors – has opened a new clean room facility dedicated to research and development in semiconductor materials, sensors, photonics, and advanced technologies.
This state-of-the-art infrastructure provides the highly controlled environments required for developing and researching advanced semiconductor components, micro- and nanoelectronic structures, photonic elements, and innovative materials. It will support a broad range of activities, from material preparation and thin-film deposition to photolithography processes and the development of technologies with potential industrial applications.
The new facility marks a significant step toward strengthening collaboration between research organisations and industry, giving companies, universities, and research teams access to advanced infrastructure and expertise for future technology development.
As part of the European Network of Chips Competence Centres (ENCCC), CROCCS is proud to see the continued growth of Croatia’s chips ecosystem and the strengthening of national capacities that contribute to Europe’s strategic goals for semiconductor innovation, resilience, and technological sovereignty.
